I simply love the look of this CB and decided to go with it in trying to make my first CBG out of it. The wood is curved at the edges of the box, so I hope I don't run into trouble in cutting it and not damaging anything in the process. I have the shop skills of a wild poop tossing monkey, so I am not expecting much in a good outcome. However, the initial expense hasn't been so very bad and I found a hinge that I want to use in making a part of it. In looking though the stuff being sold at Ebay, it helps to view other CBGs to decide how I want to modify mine when I get the box and all parts ready to be worked on. Waiting on it to come in, but I sure do like the looks of it. I am contemplating a Red Oak neck for it. The taail piece hinge idea is from a photo at Catoctin Mountian Music that I saw on one of their CBG's. It is a brass, winged hinge and if it will work, it would look really nice. The problem is all the curves on the box edges, so I may have to consider something more traditional as a tail piece part. I am anxious to get the parts in and start construction on this diy project. The box is on order, and I still have to accumulat the parts. I have to slow myself down a bit, as I have several diy projects all in the making and I don't want to lose interest by having too many irons in the fire. Anyone seen a CBG made from a box like this before? Any tips to share in making one from it?
