Just a thought, does Brass mellow like wood ? These days antique/vintage instruments command big prices often because they are made from materials that have matured, aged and added a definable quality to the instrument. How about an old National Guitar, is old brass any better than new brass ? Are there any perceptible tonal benefits of a 30's brass National Resonator over a modern brass National Resonator. This may be a silly question, anybody got any thoughts on this ?

Well, I compare to a Church bell. They sound great new or old, it may tarnish over time but they still sound great. A drummer friend says his cymbals sound better clean but not a change over time. Wood was once a living thing and definitely changes as a guitar is played.
